ha ha ha...I read about stories like this only from you, Holly. Now I don't have a grill so I wouldn't know...but when my dad grilled when I was staying with them, I remember it smelling good...anyway, I am planning to get a grill soon (husband wants one so he can cook - sound familiar?) and if this thing happens, I know what to say!

THANKS Nick!!! Okay, got it--steel brush, drip pan. I knew there had to be a logical explanation.

I also felt sure that barbecues smell good, rather than causing choking. But it feels much better to get some feedback from someone who clearly knows for certain!

BBQ's should smell good. The bad smell/smoke is probably burning grease that has accumulated and sat. Make sure he scrubs the grill with a steel brush (after its been heated). Try cleaning out the bottom drip pan too (let it cool first).
