Playdate at the Home of an Actress

I have an acquaintance who is a beautiful actress. She has been on many shows and now has a regular role on one. She’s one of those people who is so beautiful that she elicits…people-pleasing behavior from others. Like if she forgets money to pay at a cash register, the cashier smiles really nicely and says with great joy “I’ll PAY, I’LL PAY!!! I’m HAPPY to PAY!!!” Then when it’s my turn, someone gets in front of me and when I try to insist on getting my turn, the same cashier defends the person who cut in front of me. Just joking. It’s not quite that bad. hahaah. I’m just in a joking mood.

So, anyway this lady’s son is my 5 year-old’s best friend. We have invited her son over to play, and recently, she invited us over for playdate at her house. I was a little nervous because…I don’t know. I’m always nervous the first time I visit a person’s home, plus I am not used to chatting with beautiful actresses. SO, here’s what transpired:

  1. We were in her home for 5 minutes when my oldest son accidentally knocked a glass decoration onto the floor, shattering it to pieces.
  2. My middle son had gas. Sorry, I generally try not to use crude language, but he farted non-stop. It was so bad that even his friend was wide-eyed and said stuff like “man”…for those of you who don’t have boys, boys don’t get wide-eyed over each other’s gas. They laugh about it and then move on. But there was no moving on. It was one constant flow of gas. I should add, however, that we were outside the entire time, for which I am very thankful.
  3. The button of my shorts popped off, but I couldn’t find it. It is probably still there at her home. SO, my shorts would not close, and they kept falling down. Not ALL the way down, but by this point, who even cares?
  4. My husband drove us. We have child locks on our car, so the back doors can’t be opened from the inside. While waiting for us outside, my husband sat in back to play with the baby, and YEP, locked himself in the car. So, we go out there, and he’s inside the car smiling as he bangs on the window with one hand and points at the lock with the other, mouthing that he locked himself in the car.

It was GREAT. I’m sure we’ll get invited back real soon…Actually, this family is so down to earth that it’s hard to believe. She didn’t seem at all phased by any of this. I guess we’ll find out. I’ll let you know if she asks us over again.

  1. How did I miss this post? To funny. The way you describe your life is…the best! What had that son of yours been eating – I don’t really want to know.

  2. Hi Grayquill,

Thank you. I’ve noticed that the posts with no pictures tend to get missed.

I think everyone likes a nice catchy picture:)

  3. Yes, that is probably true we are such simpletons. I also think – at least I do this, see the last post and assume I have read everything before.
