I’m so excited.

My husband lined up his next job, and thank goodness, it will be HERE. Well, kind of. At least technically he’ll be living at home, but most likely he’ll be working 24/7 as usual. He’ll he’ll have to drive all the way through Los Angeles each morning to get there, as this is in a studio right by Venice and Santa Monica. Therefore his commute will be completely atrocious in the morning, but hey at 2am at night when he comes home from work, the commute won’t be so bad. HA HA. I’m in a very humorous mood today!!!

It’s for the movie “2012.” If you haven’t heard about this movie, well, neither have I except that a thousand studios are hiring people to work on this movie. WOW. I mean every place. Sometimes that means the movie gets done really nicely artistically but isn’t very good plot-wise. Usually my husband works on those. He he. So, now that my husband will be working on “2012,” we can probably safely assume it will NOT be a blockbuster. hahahahhaha. Someone stop me!

Oh, sorry I let the word “yeehaw” slip out–that happens sometimes when I’m REALLY excited! Also, the phrase “fixin to…” which means “about to” and I turn words like “didn’t” into “di-un” and “cuz” instead of “because.” And of course, curse words. This really urks some of my friends who are not from the South, oh, which is almost all of my friends since I left Tennessee many years ago…

Anyway, I want to sound really sophisticated when I speak, so I’ve tried hard to stop saying things like “yeehaw,” but it’s very hard. Even harder than it was to stop smoking. Fortunately I’ve made some progress on the cursing, except when I’m riled (like right now).

Um, what happened to this post? It’s all over the place. Sorry–I’m so excited my husband will be working here again. Even if it is not very soon:) Taking care of our three little boys by myself isn’t the easiest thing in the world to do–but at least now I know my husband will come back before too long.

Hollywood workers are seeing some hard times. The effect of the writer’s strike, gas prices, and the age old problem of Los Angeles area rents and mortgages are making it hard for locals–even those who have achieved their aspirations of securing cushy positions in the industry.

While movies don’t pay the rent, they can sure relieve and inspire the soul. For any readers who seriously need an escape and a little inspiration, I strongly recommend the following movies–if you think YOU’RE having hard times, wait till you see these guys:

The Pursuit of Happyness starring Will Smith (the title is actually spelled that way–it’s not a typo) and the sweetest little boy ever, though I don’t know his name, he’s a marvelous little actor. MAN this is a good movie about how the human spirit can somehow keep on going even when doors keep closing and closing…and then before you know it, things start looking up.

Cinderella Man starring Russell Crowe: Such a bad title for such an incredibly engaging and inspiring movie. It’s about family, love, hardtimes, and risks. It tells the TRUE story of a family who made it through the Great Depression. Note: I got so emotional during this movie that I had to pause it and find the ending on the Internet–pathetic, but true testimony as to how incredibly awesome this movie is!

What a joyful morning. I had a dream about Luke Wilson last night. In case you don’t know him, he is a great actor! And very, very laugh-aloud funny. And, as you can see from the above photo, he’s TOTALLY good-looking. Don’t confuse him with his slighly more famous older brother Owen, who may even be funnier than Luke and who’s also really cute (hence, his reputation as a big-time ladies’ man, despite his really odd nose.) Also, despite hype about Luke Wilson getting “fat,” I say FAT SHMAT. He’s still darn good-looking, and he always will be! he he.

Scary and sad aside: For a brief period of time, I sort of considered naming my newborn son Luke Wilson [insert my last name]. Or at least Luke. My husband would never ever agree with this if he knew that Luke Wilson is a movie star. However, because he has NO IDEA who Luke Wilson or any other famous person is, I went ahead and asked…However, the word “luke” means “onion” in Russian language. This didn’t bother me at ALL. But it did bother my husband, as he spoke Russian sometimes growing up. I was like, “Oh COME ON, the name Onion Wilson [insert our last name] is perfectly acceptable.” Amusing, no?

It was so nice to dream about someone I LIKE after having so many dreams about famous people like Vladimir Putin wanting to date me (read here, very bizarre) or Robin Williams trying to set me up with Josh Hartnett (read here, barely even know who Josh Harnett is).

Too bad the dream was SO DUMB. Luke was not in any way interested in me or asking me out. In fact, his friend was kind of mean to me. Plus, for some reason, the dream involved a 90 year old Hungarian lady who I’m pretty sure was Luke’s grandmother (in the dream only…in real life, I think his parents are Irish)…

Let me warn you that this is boring and dumb, but basically, here’s the dream: Me, Luke, Luke’s friend, and Luke’s Hungarian grandmother were sitting in the grandmother’s apartment. It was old and rundown. We were talking about how to solve some problem–I think she wanted to move out of that apartment. So, the friend looks up and says to the group “Do you want to see how bad it is?” Then he looks at me and says, “Go over there and lift up that piece of posterboard.”

Right before I lifted up the posterboard, Luke’s friend says, “Wait till you see all the bugs under this thing.” Um, bugs? I don’t lift things up when there are BUGS under it. Needless to say, that posterboard stayed extremely intact. But I had to ask myself, “Why do I always get the crap jobs no one else wants to do? Why didn’t he ask LUKE to do it?” Whatever, I’ m used to it. Ha ha.

Anyway, then the dream fizzled out because slowly the sound of my beautiful baby crying became louder and louder in my ears. The one I wanted to name Onion. And I got up. That’s it. That’s my big dream about Luke Wilson. Give me a break. By the way, does everyone have dreams about famous guys (or girls) asking them out? If no, I guess this is yet one more sign that I have low self-esteem or am starved for attention or something like this. Will make a note to check that out closely. As soon as I have time. And money for therapy.

My husband came home for a day while on his job out of town (for one day). It’s wonderful to see him. And absence is so good for the heart, as well as the eyes. He is looking cuter than ever! Of course, this follows a 2 week absence. So, at this point, in my eyes the man would look great regardless of his actual appearance. For example, he could have gained 100 pounds, and he would look perfectly sexy to me right now. Or, he could be sporting his non-shaved head look and still look great.

Note of explanation on that last sentence: Shaved head is the ONLY way for him to go–otherwise, hair gets out of control. He thinks “doing his hair” is unmanly. To him “doing his hair” would involve using any hair product including shampoo (he uses normal soap), combing, or heaven forbid blow drying. See, he needs to be “manly,” therefore when his hair grows, it is horribly uneven, sticks out in weird places, always looks dirty, and is super unattractive. Except perhaps today, when it would look absolutely marvelous to me…

Oh, but this post is about “many” Hot Dads. I will list them for you now:

Hot Dad #1, my husband, as I just described in detail.

Hot Dad #2–the one I posted yesterday (who looks identical to my husband). I haven’t run into him again. That suits me fine, as it gives me a guilt complex, though it is also exciting.

Hot Dad #3 has appeared. But this one’s a little ironic and odd. Let me explain.

Yesterday, I was waiting for my son to come to the gate. I was just minding my own business, observing people. Then I see a guy, a child’s father presumably, running to the school gate–he was late to pick up his child. I noticed he was quite nice-looking. (And I thought to myself, “What’s up with all the Hot Dads? Am I boy crazy or something? Why do I keep noticing Hot Dads? I need to GROW UP.”)

Low and behold, after about four seconds, I recognized him. He’s a friend of ours. It took me a minute because he’d shaved off his 1970s geeky detective mustache. You know, the ones that looked like this:

Sure, it looks GREAT on Johnny Depp as Donnie Brasco (good movie by the way, though old and violent). But for ALL other guys, this is a HUGE no no–except Johnny Depp, they make all men look TOTALLY CREEPY. (Note: If you are a guy, and you have one of these, please contact me immediately for constructive, inspirational suggestions that will intensely benefit your love life. And they’re FREE! Just my way of giving back.)

Oh, so you can imagine my dismay when I realized that New Hot Dad was actually Old Friend Creepy Dad!!!!! WHOA. It’s always strange when you know someone well, and then suddenly become aware that the person is attractive. Hm. I wonder why Old Friend Creepy Dad decided to shave his mustache? It sounds mean to call him this, but I simply can’t continue to refer to a male friend guy as “Hot Dad #3″–that’s just asking for trouble.

I am usually with the times when it comes to movies. But in this one case, I’m way behind. Just in case there are other people out there who are as behind the times as me, I’m going to rave about this movie from 2005. The movie is Pride and Prejudice.

I saw it on TV two nights ago. I almost never watch TV (except UFO documentaries, which I love so much I’m not even allowed to discuss it, otherwise you will think I’m a crackhead). BUT now, watching TV is kind of fun because it’s an easy activity to do while feeding the baby. So, the other night, I was flipping through the channels–that’s pretty much how I watch TV (till I find a UFO documentary, then the flipping abruptly ceases and microwave popcorn gets prepared). Sorry. Back on track.

And there I see a beautiful little scene from an unfamiliar movie. Kiera Knightly is at a lively party with classical sounding violin music, dressed up in late 18th century clothing, hair all done up in curls. She’s giggling in a circle with a bunch of girls.

Then one of the girls says something like, “Elizabeth, one day you too will understand. Just the right man will catch your eye, and you will not be able to turn away.”

Next, a guy walked into the party. He clearly caught her eye. I was HOOKED. The movie didn’t end until 3:30am, and I still could not pry myself away any sooner. I had to catch every last moment. (Quick question: Why isn’t Matthew Macfadyen so, so, so, so much more famous than he is? He’s SUCH a convincing actor. I would watch anything with this guy in it.)

I might even need to watch this movie again. I didn’t even check the names of the screenwriter or director, but the way the story was presented was incredibly engaging. It portrays the chemistry between the leading characters more vividly that any movie I remember seeing.

The scenery, clothing, movement, music, and acting in this movie are superb–really takes you away. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it. Now I’m in the mood to watch more good movies. New or old–please recommend some to me. Books too!!!
